Talking point Issue 39

On target to meet growth and quality goals Accompanying the higher volumes, our strong R&D pipeline will continue to deliver exciting products that bring new functional and nutritional opportunities to the global food industry. Major investment programmes are driving growth at Arla Foods Ingredients. With the expansion of our protein processing capacity just completed and construction of a new lactose plant in Denmark underway, we are on track to double our current turnover by 2017. As a result of these investments, our customers can expect a growing supply of high quality whey products – meeting growing demand from global consumers.

A matter of particular interest to us at the moment is the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation’s recommendation that a new method for measuring protein quality be taken into use. Closely reflecting the essential amino acid profile and bioavailability of proteins, we see the method as an important tool in meeting the major challenges involved in feeding the world’s fast-growing population. We will keep you informed about progress towards the method’s implementation.

In the meantime, we will continue to provide customers with the best possible service – an integrated part of our ambition to be perceived as the quality leader in the global whey industry. We look forward to continuing our journey and hope you will stay with us for the ride!
