Recognition is a great reward. International innovation awards are a great motivator for a company with market-driven innovation in its blood. At Arla Foods Ingredients, we have been honoured with three such awards within a month.

Two World Dairy Innovation Awards have recognised our whey protein concepts for frozen skyr (Scandinavian style Greek yogurt) and accelerated cheese ripening. In the USA, our process for turning the acid whey by-product of Greek yogurt production into refreshing beverages,desserts and spreadable cheese has won an IFT Food Expo Innovation Award.

We view these awards as a clear signal that our chosen strategic direction is the right one - and that the benefits of whey protein are well understood and appreciated.

It is also important for us to communicate that the quality of our innovation work, products and services both meet and exceed the expectations of customers and partners. This issue’s article on our microbiological standards highlights some of our latest continuous improvements, which have raised our in-house hygiene requirements to an unprecedented level.
