Moderate malnutrition stunts the growth and development of millions of young children living in poverty. Making sure they have the right food to nourish them is an urgent challenge.
Recent clinical studies suggest that whey ingredients could make an important difference. Due to their content of high quality proteins and minerals, they can contribute to affordable foods that meet the nutrition recommendations of the World Health Organisation.
At Arla Foods Ingredients, we have sponsored several studies in recent years. One of them is a field trial in Malawi, which has tested the effect of ready-to-use supplementary foods made with soy, whey protein and whey permeate. Read more here.
In 2014, we also joined other international companies, NGOs and knowledge institutions in the GAIN Nordic Partnership, part of the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN). The ambition is to develop affordable and nutritious foods in partnership with local manufacturers. Our initial focus is the dairy value chain in Ethiopia.
